Event: Japanese Nostalgic Car Meet

December 19, 2015
8th Wonder Brewery
Houston, TX

Out here in Houston, the Mayday Garage boys rule the import scene. They pretty much monopolize and own the ricers. So whenever they put out a car meet, be it a pre-meet to a car show or their weekly Ricer Wednesdays and Coffee and Rice on Sundays, you can be rest assured that it is an absolute hit. This year's Japanese Nostalgic Car Meet was no exception.

Event: Wekfest Texas 2015 [Part 3 of 3]

October 18, 2015
George R. Brown Convention Center
Houston, TX

Now we're down to the last part of the 2015 Wekfest Texas roll-in coverage. I hope you guys enjoyed the variety of cars and style portrayed in this series. Although these cars are far from what we envision ourselves to cover on Rolling Classics, they are undeniably unique and are definitely something petrolheads would look back and reminisce in the future. The automotive scene is constantly evolving and new fads would emerge, which would lend all the current trends obsolete. Luckily, as with history, everything would repeat itself. We could only hope that the future generations would look back at the trends that we are presently embodying and bring these awesome times back. Regardless of your automotive inclination, we hope that you have enjoyed this series, or have achieved a new sense of appreciation for this car scene. Get out and drive, friends!

Event: Wekfest Texas 2015 [Part 2 of 3]

October 18, 2015
George R. Brown Convention Center
Houston, TX

The number of cars that were coming in for the show was insane. Thanks to the organized people at Wekfest, the flow of the roll-in went smoothly and the queue of cars waiting to enter the convention center did not get out of hand. Although this was like a double-edged sword for any photographer because this made the job of spotting the cars that caught people's attention all the more harder - especially when you factor in the fact that most of the cars were really nicely built. Nevertheless, we tried our best to document all the cars as time and opportunity would permit. We hope you enjoyed part 1 of the coverage for Wekfest Texas, and are in anticipation for part 2. Well, here it is!

Event: Wekfest Texas 2015 [Part 1 of 3]

October 18, 2015
George R. Brown Convention Center
Houston, TX

Wekfest has always been amazing venue for car enthusiasts, and this year's Houston stop is no different. We got the chance to be around the cars before they entered the convention center for staging. The crop of cars did not disappoint us. There was a wide variety of modification styles and car makes, although Honda seemed to have the strongest showing. Enjoy this first part of our Wekfest Texas 2015 roll-in coverage.

Wekfest Texas Pre-Meet

October 17, 2015
Moon Tower Inn
Houston, TX

The night before any Wekfest event on their list of cities in the tour is when one of the most anticipated gatherings take place. And the Mayday Garage hosted night meet was no exception. In fact, the gathering was so big that it took at least 3 blocks of the area. The place was packed with interesting cars and excited spectators. Indeed, it was the perfect appetizer to whet our appetites for Wekfest Texas the following day.

A Gathering of Bulls

Lamborghini Festival
October 10, 2015
Navasota, TX

The Lamborghini Festival this year was bigger than ever, with more impressive and rare cars in attendance. What was also nice about the festival is that it is not purely exclusive to just Lamborghinis. Other makes were welcomed, so it isn't out of the ordinary to see a couple of Ferraris joining in on the fun. We joined the festival at their drive and meet-up in Navasota, Texas, which is a good 70 or so miles from Houston. The stampede started at City Centre and finished at Navasota's City Hall.

countach!

Lamborghini Countach LP400
Lamborghini Festival
October 10, 2015
Navasota, TX

The Lamborghini Countach was a revolutionary design courtesy of Marcello Gandini at Bertone Design Studio. The striking design paved the way for the succeeding Lamborghinis up to this day. Its flat, wide and forward-centric form were comprised of simple trapezoidal shapes that give the car an impactful presence. Today's modern "bulls" owe their notably handsome and brute appearance to this classic model that even was not named after a fighting bull.

Big World, Small Car

April 9, 2015
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, NV
Hoover Dam, NV-AZ
Grand Canyon National Park, AZ

Continuing on our journey from Anaheim, CA back to Houston, TX, we spent the first night of our road trip in Las Vegas, Nevada. We planned for an early start the following morning so we could catch the sunrise. However, the long drive and crazy traffic along I-15 from California to Las Vegas took a toll on us that we had to sleep in for an extra hour.

Concours d'Elegance: Porsche Style

by Lone Star Region Porsche Club of America

August 22, 2014
La Trattoria Tuscano
The Woodlands, Texas

During the Thursday before this meet, I was wondering whether there were any auto events going on in and around Houston for the weekend. Since Porsches have been on my mind lately, I decided to check the Lone Star Region PCA's calendar of events. There were 2 events scheduled on the 22nd, one was a get together in Galveston and the other one a Concours d'Elegance in The Woodlands. Alas! I found my Saturday morning activity.

The Car Meet that Should be Brought Back

Houston Coffee and Cars (Lamborghini Festival Pre-Meet)
August 9, 2015
Vintage Park
Houston, TX

The Houston Coffee and Cars is one of the best car meets in and around Houston. They have been on hiatus for a while now, but got back from its slumber for Lamborghini Festival's pre-meet. Instead of the meet happening on a Saturday, the organizers picked a Sunday this time around. Despite the deviation from its regular scheduled day, there was a very good variety of cars present.

1977 Mercedes Benz 240D

The team has recently picked up a 1977 Mercedes Benz 240D while we were in California for the RWB Medusa build. We originally thought about shipping the car back to Houston, but then we decided to drive it back home. As adventurous as we all are, we made a proper road trip with the Benz. We will be sharing photos of the car as we drove roughly 2300 miles of some of the best western roads through five states.

The Birth of Medusa: Inception

April 4, 2015
Verstrasse
Anaheim, California

Less than a year ago I visited California and met up with JM, a friend from high school. At that time, he still had the '72 Celica GT that we featured in our Hello Yellow blog post. We were talking about car stuff - which cars we have owned and which cars we would want to have in the future. JM mentioned that his dream car was an RWB Porsche. Little did I know that he was actually thinking of buying a Porsche way earlier than I thought.
