Porsche con Sabor a Tejas

Tejas Treffpunkt

November 18, 2017
Spring Street Studios
Houston, TX

Now in its second year, and with a more rebellious name, Tejas Treffpunkt (originally Tejas Treffen) has matured into a very well-organized event with numerous activities. The renaming of the gathering of Porsche machines is another story in itself. The CliffsNotes being that Porsche Club of America wanted the "Treffen" name all to themselves so the awesome organizers picked Treffpunkt instead.

Track Vigilante

1973 BMW 3.0 CSL

US Vintage National Championship
November 4, 2017
Circuit of the Americas
Austin, TX

The 3.0 CSL has endeared the hearts of racing fans during its time, as well as the hearts of modern racing fans who yearn for the nostalgia-inducing vintage machineries. To those who either grew up in the 70's or to those who wish they were adolescents back in that era, the term "Batmobile" could either mean that thing that the world's most famous vigilante rides around Gotham or that thing that BMW AG introduced into BMW's lineup in 1972. Both of which are rightfully intimidating and menacing in their own ways, may it be on the crime-ridden streets or on the race track where the only crime one can commit is to not push a car to its limits.

Two Porsche's in a Pod

US Vintage National Championship
November 4, 2017
Circuit of the Americas
Austin, TX

It is always fun walking through the pit and the garages, and it is also a hit or miss situation in terms of spotting the interesting cars. Now I'm not an expert on the cars' history and significance, but I don't mind being criticized either for liking cars that most people wouldn't even give a second look. Two cars in particular piqued my interest. Both are Porsches, and both were actual racing cars in the IMSA races.

COTA Vintage Takeover

The Circuit of the Americas is best known for hosting the most advanced race, both in terms of technology and driver skill set - Formula One's US Grand Prix. But for four days in early November, vintage race cars take over to relive their glory days on the country's freshest 3.4 miles of racetrack asphalt.

Porsche and Art

Tejas Treffen
November 19, 2016
Spring Street Studios
Houston, TX

Porsche's are beautifully designed cars, such that mentioning the name in the same sentence with "art" sounds perfect. So with the Tejas Treffen team planning a unique Porsche event, holding the show at a building occupied by various artists from different disciplines was only appropriate. This would be the first time in Houston where Porsche cars were displayed alongside beautiful works of art from local artists. Oh, there were some gorgeous motorcycles, too.

A Chase of Air and Water

Tejas Treffen - Graffiti Run
November 19, 2016
Houston, TX

ECSTATIC! The single word that sums up the experience of being a part of the Tejas Treffen Graffiti Run. Ecstatic, we all were, because we got the chance to partake on a curated drive to some of the most colorful and inspiring urban art around Houston's downtown. And as if that was not enough, we all swept the city's streets in one of the most respected automaker marquees in the world... Porsche.

Race Day is the Best Day: The Paddock

Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing
Oktoberfest and German Feature
October 1 - 2, 2016
MSR Houston
Angleton, TX

After spending portions of my days at the track one weekend, I was reminded of how fun it is to be around the smell of burning fuel and melting rubber. The gear head in me was rekindled even when I was merely spectating and taking photos. Oh, and the fact that these were all vintage cars getting a go at the track added to the excitement.

Event: Wekfest Texas 2016

October 1, 2016
George R. Brown Convention Center
Houston, TX

We're back! Yes, we have been gone for too long, I know. It's crazy how life sometimes gets in the way of your hobby and you lose all the motivation to be creative. Well, luckily Wekfest was dropping by Houston and what better way to get back to the groove of things than covering one of the best tuner shows.

Time Warp to the Finish

January 23, 2016
Turbo Kraft
Mesa, AZ

Three days is ample time to get used to the routine of the build and the company of the people who banded together for the creation of one special car. Being together with the El Hefe gang almost 24/7, the RWB build easily became everyone's tiny world despite being fully aware of the vast unexplored territory outside of the clique. The thought of seeing the same faces day in and day out has now created a comfort zone for everyone. This being the official last day of the build we all did not want the whole experience to end, but as with all good things it is inevitable. So, we all just had to be present and cherish the remaining moments.

El Hefe: Fenders and Tail On

January 22, 2016
Turbo Kraft
Mesa, AZ

Day two of El Hefe’s birth was somewhat the official start of the build since most of the major modifications were done that day. Given the amount of work that had to be accomplished in so little time, everybody in the shop was ready to be stuck in there until Nakai-san called it a day.  And as expected from a group of passionate gearheads, everybody diligently fulfilled their parts.
